Hello All!

I'm brand new to diving. Just completed my classroom and pool training. I passed the written test now I just need my open water for certification. I'm still just getting comfortable with all the gear. I know it will get better with every dive. :snorkel:

It will get better with every dive. I know I was pretty nervous before my check-out dives. Try to get in the pool as much as you an between now and then and get so you can do your skills in your sleep. That way when it comes time to do your skills for real you won't have to be worried about it. Remember that diving if FUN! I did my check-out dives in the Fl. Keys, it was great. Good luck and have fun!

Yes it will get better with each dive. Even pool dives build familiarity and confidence. Stay in your comfort zone expanding you hoizons as essentials become second nature.

Are you certifying locally, now or in the spring?

Have fun,
Pete

I will be certifying in the spring. Not sure if I will do my open water here or take a trip to Florida. I would prefer Florida but it depends on my boyfriend and if we can find the time to take the trip. He is actually the reason I am diving. He loves it so much I wanted to share it with him. I know I will love it to once I am more comfortable with the gear and my skills.

Aurora? Say hi to Wayne and Garth.

Who's doing your cert, Gary from Berry?

Your open water dives will be alot of fun mixed with reveiw of some of the same skills you did in the pool. Just a couple of new skills to complete and you'll have your ow card. Hope you get to check out in the Florida springs,Theyre great with awsome vis. Dont kill your boyfriend when you find out how much he spent on dive gear. Thats why i'm so glad my wife does'nt dive.

Enjoy yourself and the more relaxed you get when your diving the better your going to get and you'll start using less air. Welcome to the world of scuba! Have fun follow the rules so your safe and have FUN.

Also you did the best thing already you join the SB forum and that shows the you are willing to learn more, and this site is the best for answering all your questions and after the dive awhile consider taking a AOW class. You can never learn to much.

Good luck on your dives. Practice is the best way to improve your skills, so dive often.

Good open water dive...ya...welcome to scuba board
