Maybe not, but many people here do and associate it almost exclusively with Halcyon. Some people would buy a turd if it had a blue H on it.
how big is the H?

Yeah but even Halcyon and GUE have done away with the DIR term...
Change for the sake of change (or financial gain) isn't progression-- it's stalling, actually.I think it's pretty cool that Andrew Georgitsis attempts to apply solid diving philosophy to new equipment innovation. If we stop at the current DIR philosophy our capabilities will remain what they are today. Without advances in technology, education, and even philosophy we succumb to a parochial and limiting mindset. Scuba diving has suffered from poorly skilled divers implementing inappropriate changes and education for several decades. When quality divers such as AG pioneer new things, the sport of scuba diving gets to enjoy the same hope for advancement as top end competitors bring to other sports such as snowboarding and skiing. Whether a design works well or fails to work, we at least keep moving the sport forward rather than just sitting frozen in time or regressing.
I think I've just decided that UTD no longer prioritizes "begin as you mean to go on", and a standard setup -- which is entirely their choice as an agency.
