Update;
After a few dives with my normal hose the stuff off, the tool has shown it will require more care which should not be a surprise for a fairly complicated tool, my titanium knife does fine with no extra care but this tool with the various pivots and springs will require at least the attention that regular sheers do, a good soaking and something like spray silicone to penetrate the nooks and crannies.

The upside is they are more compact than standard sheers :acclaim:
But without taking the time to protect them they could be useless when you need them.

I see your beat me to it lexvil. I was going to post that even the actual leatherman branded tool rust easily and goes dull quickly. I purchased three of them to use at work before I gave up and bought a pair of x-shears. This was for work in the ER and not diving. We do have a habit of cleaning stuff with bleach wipes so if we’re not careful things can rust on us, and these shears were not near as stainless as you’d hope.

An update, it’s only been 5 months and it hasn’t been on all of my dives in that time it did go to Curacao and get the full neglect from several hours in the water with only one good rinse at the end of the trip

It remains sharp and easily cuts webbingits pretty unsightly with stains. The only functional issue is the lock button getting sticky so the handles won’t lock in the open position without fiddling with them, not ideal really. While it’s a great idea the execution is a fail unless you like to fiddle with stuff.

Cool -- but I am curious to see what it will look like in six months of saltwater use . . .
That was my first thought too...

Speaking from experience in Public Safety Diving for an EMS team. These will rust FAST. Mine did after about 10 dives. if you’re in the market for a good Sheer that wont along with a holster Black Mask Divers Has one on their site. I will never go back to anything else. Not nearly as many “Bells and Whistles” as the Raptor but it is coated to prevent rust. Up to about 100 on their sheer

My raptors rust from use in the ER with bleach wipes. I wouldn’t trust them in salt water at all.

Ive gone to the x-shears and they have held up great in the ER. Haven’t tried them diving but I’d trust them more than the raptors.
