It looks in good shape. It'll be nice to dive. I have no idea what the staple is fore, but it's surprising that it hasn't rotted.
There was a special tool for holding those regulators and I've seen what I think are replicas for sale from time to time. I used this type of wrench wrapped in tape and held in a vise. This may be the adjustable you're referring to.
Thanks for the tip. That's not the wrench in the USD rebuild manual picture but it worked great. Thank you. I'll update pictures soon.

Wow! Not much to these is there? She's beautiful inside. A little corrosion between the can and baking plate but nothing bad. Display regulator maybe dove once.

Volcano orifice is in PERFECT shape as far as I can tell.

The seat has a uniform smooth groove and no corrosion. Very happy with my purchase.

I miss Dr. Sam Miller chiming in with some story about his dives with one of these.

I didn’t appreciate how incredibly simple a regulator could until I rebuilt my Mistral. Very little to them. You depress the diaphragm that depresses a series of levers that pushes a spring and pin. Not as smooth as a modern regulator, but works.
