Hi guys/girls,
I'm moving to SF later this month from Australia! and will be bringing my equipment. So I hope to start diving again, it's been almost 2 years since I dived in Singapore.

First question where is SF in relation to NorCa or SoCal? Cause I have no idea where Menterey County is ... or where Oregon for that matter.

More questions to come ... I just need to fine the right place to post them.

SF is N. Cal and Oregon is ... well.... north of SF by about 6 to 8 hours (correct me come wrong people, I've never done the drive). Monterey County where alot of people dive is 2 hours (give or take) south of San Francisco. Hope that helps.

Southern California is centered around Los Angeles which is 5.5-6.5 hours south of SF, and San Diego which is about 8 hours south of SF.

I am an Aussie/ex-Aussie; I have lived in Davis for 21 years. Quick geography lesson - Davis is about 1 to 1 1/2 hours drive WNW from SF, 15 miles from Sacramento, capitol of California. As the other postings note, most of us dive in Monterey around here, although there is also diving north of SF as well. If you want to meet sometime, PM me or let me know and I can show you some of the local sights.

I have dived at the GBR a couple of times, as well Jervis Bay south of Sydney and South West Rocks in norther NSW.

Oops, yes ENE . Although if you kept going WNW with minor course corrections you might eventually get to Davis. So much for a geography lesson! I can do better underwater.

Oy, I'm still trying to get used to underwater navigation. I get way too distracted and forget I'm supposed to be headed somewhere... :(
