Hi to all!
I am new to blogging/posting online, but would like some feedback about places and resorts for a wondeful dive vacation. My husband and I have started looking into where we would like to go on a week long dive vacation this winter. Most likely carribean. We started looking into the Cayman islands and became very interested in traveling there - until we continued our search and came across a lot of articles about Cayman island related scuba deaths/accidents. This kind of freaked us out and turned us off a bit. I know it depends on a lot of factors but it seems like there are a lot more "accidents" in the caymans than anywhere else. Any advice/info on this subject would be great. Also any advice or suggestions on other locations would be great too. We have been to cozumel (many times), belize, andros bahamas - I am a stay at home mom of 3 so anywhere I go I don't want to have to cook, I just want to dive, dive, dive! :)

You need to provide more information to obtain help here.

What is your budget?
Are you taking the three kids and do you want activities for them also?
If you want activites - for what age group?
How many dives do you want to do a day?
Do you want an artifical environment like a beaches or sandals resort - or do you want to mix in with the locals?
Do you want other "activites" besides diving or do you want to just lay on the beach?

The answer to these questions will provide the information folks on the board need in order to give you relevant advice!

Welcome to the boards.

No kids this time, just the 2 of us. We enjoy being able to do 3 boat dives a day - peferably not shore diving. Our budget...not sure we have one. If it looks/feels right we go. No more than $8000 with air I will say. 7 nights, 6 days of diving.
We do not like a busy chain hotels. No sandals, etc. We have been very fortunate in our trips and have had small dive groups (i'm talking no more than 6 including us). Laid back - nice beach, possibility for snorkeling, no high heels, etc. Just relaxing and diving and a cook! :D

$8,000 is a strong budget for two for a full week - you will have lots of choices. Problem with the winter is that it can be windy and cool in the islands - which impacts visibility and diving conditions.

Based on the information in your two posts I would recommend one of the following two resorts.
Both offer three boat dives a day and the price for both includes diving, food and lodging. A car isn't needed.

Little Cayman Beach Resort, Cayman Islands, Caribbean

Belize Fishing & Diving Resorts | Turneffe Island Resort | Vacation in Belize

Thank you! I appreciate the reccomendations! I will have to do some research.....

Teresa i live in cozumel so you know it, cozumel has beautiful places to enjoy, it in addition to that you can go to chankanab or punta sur marine park, it is so nice for snorkeling, see crocodile, flamingos, in the east part of the island the beaches are empy and so relaxing, the town is small and not crowded
