late to the thread but to any new diver going on a first vacation dive I would just say let your dive guide know you are brand new and any diver that may be very near you know also. Ive done dives where new divers were on pretty advanced dives and ended up 95 ft deep 30 meters and were holding hands and vertical the entire time. and still sinking once I got to them and had to inflate their bcds. dive guide saw them going down and just watched.

If you talk about it on the boat out to the dive site you will get tons of friendly help and watchful eyes. Dont be shy just let the peeps know you have no diving experience and just certified.

and for the hard core types here yea...its our own responsibility to know how to dive after training blah blah blah. That all goes out the window in the real world if not experienced.

Always good to get advice on the dive site as many divers might have dove the site before and can happily talk all about it.
