Hi all! I recently got certified on a trip to Hawaii, and decided it was time to jump in here as well. I got a lot of useful information just reading this board prior to my OW cert. Many thanks to all of you who dish out advice, wisdom, and support to those of us who are still learning. I doubt that I'll ever aspire to become a "tech diver", but I'll still do what I can to make the most of my dive opportunities. This board is a very usefull tool.:D

Well hello and welcome to Scubaboard
I always say its a great resource for diving info.

:admingreet:

Welcome. So Cal is not Hawaii, but we've got some good diving here too. Check out South Orange County Dive Club, as they are out diving most weekends. You don't have to be a member to dive with them.

OMG, I remember watching Davy and Goliath! :rofl3: Boy, that brings back memories...."OOKKAAYY Davy"

Congratulations on your certification and good luck w/your future diving.

This board is an amazing resource, isn't it? I've learned a ton from reading here, and I'm always amazed at the time people will spend to share their knowledge.

You're lucky to be based in a superb area to continue your diving. Although the water isn't as warm as Hawaii, some of the underwater landscapes in Southern California are actually far prettier (at least to me). The color and the density of life in places like Anacapa and the Casino Point dive park are amazing!

There are several SoCal groups active on SB, including the one mentioned above and the Beach Crabs, and there are also the Wrinkles shore dives. You shouldn't have any problems finding people to dive with. Have fun with it! (Says Lynne, who is headed back to SoCal in about three weeks, and is looking forward to it.)

Welcome To ScubaBoard and congratulations on the Cert!
I'm working on it but i'm doing it the hard way, was hoping to make the early June class but "I" got in the way. The waters colder here but you are here, so you don't need to wait for a vacation to dive.
You might want to check out the Dive-IN in July the 26th here in Redondo Beach at Vets Park. You can find a calendar here on the board.
Jim

P.S. I like your avitar. Yes i'm old enough to have watched it as a kid:popcorn:
