Hello all,

I introduced myself here but thought I would also take the time to formally introduce myself to the GLWC group. I look forward to hopefully getting to know some of you.

Although I’m new to the area, I have already checked out one of the LDS this past weekend – Indy MPH Watersports – and was quite pleased. I was very happy with the equipment selection, their prices, and the staff seemed very friendly and helpful. Sadly they confirmed my suspicion that there isn’t a good local dive club (this surprises me…anyone interested in starting one?)

Unfortunately the move has left me (yet again) without any dive buddies. I am hoping that I will be able to meet one or more people on here who are either looking for a buddy themselves or wouldn’t mind me tagging along.

As pointed out in my Meet and Greet, I am still new to the sport. However, I am very comfortable in the water, am a fast and eager learner, and take diving very seriously. If you are serious about diving (with respect to safety and the sport) and want an additional person to dive with, please feel free to contact me.

Once again, it was nice introducing me to you all. I look forward to lurking around these forums.

P.S. My in-laws live in the Chicagoland (Naperville) area so I am there pretty frequently. If anyone in this area would be interested in some Saturday diving this spring and summer let me know who you are.

Who said that there isn't a good local dive club, Eric or Mike?
Did they ask it to Tom? LOL~~~ I hope they know what they are selling.

Anyway, welcome to the board. We have an active dive club (of course, it is a good club), KOMI based on our board members. Just PM your full name, location, and email address. You can't miss any event we have. In addition, we regularly dive at Blue Springs.

In addition, if you are DS diver, we have an upcoming ice diving plan at BS.

Good luck on the ice dive. Rick says there has been no hint of ice this year at BS. btw, come spring, the price to get dive is jumping from $10/day to $20/day. I kid you not.

Greetings! Welcome to the board! This is a great place to find dive buddies, I've met a bunch of people from here and have always had a blast with them :D Maybe I'll see you around Gilboa sometime. Keep an eye out for posts in the GLWC, someone is usually diving somewhere every weekend and all you have to do is post to let them know you'll be in the area and needing a buddy.
Enjoy the board!

Key words there: GOOD diving club in Indy area. There once WAS a GOOD dive club, but it went south when the associated LDS changed ownership awhile back. There are some other Indy area dive clubs AFAIK, but I can't provide any first hand input as to their quality or frequency of local diving - I'm not even sure how to find them.

There ARE active local divers who are associated with Indy MPH but who are not members of an organized club. Some of their DM's and several other local divers usually dive for fun nearly every weekend during good weather and once or twice a month year 'round. Call MPH and ask for Mike Taylor. Same is true for other LDS's so you'll just have to call and ask around to find a LDS/club that suits you.

Oh~~Yeah, If then, how about $50 per day? And, the full MSRP price from the shop you are working for.... $20/day can't be enough to feed up their axx. Of course, the scuba is getting more too much luxurious to enjoy for most Indiana hicks. I am sure their yearly income is much better than IU tenured professor who has a doctoral degree. LOL~~~
I also would like to know what the bottom line or WTP (willingness to pay) for this sport in Indiana is...

I have no idea the the WTP would be, but I'll bet it isn't $20/day. Unless you stay there all day, $20 is too much.

btw, I was born a hoosier, but I'm not a hick. The $20/day will certainly reduce the number of dives I do at BS.

Sure, you aren't a hick. I don't remember I have seen any hicks in Fisher and Carmel area. You know where I am talking about.... S. Indinaa.... LOL~~~

I agree... I had better dive at the private lake.

CVDev,

Come on up to Gilboa on any weekend and I garantee you'll have dive buddies to call on, and there's always trips going somewhere near and far. Welcome to the board.
