No ...if you are down with a G5 by all means get one ...its just when you are installing , importing or otherwise hooked to a peripheral do not disturb the process by losing power, losing the USB connection or unplug the peripheral device, otherwise you will loose all the data ....in my case pictures ...and this is not the first time it has happened.

They are the easiest to use by far. In general you don't have to deal with proprietary device driver BS like on a PC ...
