They did you a favor, in letting you know that they probably won't be around for the long haul. Stores that turn away business because they don't like where you bought something have a history of going out of business.
This is sad to hear. I did my pool classes last August or so and my open water sign offs a couple of months ago and felt the instructors were safe, knowledgeable, and happy to answer any questions (I had different instructors for both). I also enjoy the fact that they have 2 25' deep indoor pools. As a member I can go in anytime they're open and use the pools and gear to practice. Even though I've only done about 5 open water dives, I've been in the pool at least 20 times which has helped tremendously with practicing skills like mask removals, buoyancy, etc. I will say the general staff on the floor seem to have a high turn over rate. I have both good and mediocre experiences with them, but never anything terrible.
@Snakekid97 the packaging from the pictures and the bar code labeling are correct, the pictures are not stock, the seller has an established track record
there is no aqualung policy against servicing regs not in warranty, you just don't get free parts which increases the servicing cost a bit.
regs are rugged and fairly simple for most, they can last a lifetime if maintained properly.
If it were you, would you recommend using rental gear for a year or so and saving for a new one from a dive shop or would you take the chance with this deal?
Thanks everyone for the input! It's nice to have input from multiple people to think about. This forum seems very active and helpful
