Well, I finally got around to buying a Phoenix nozzle for my DA Aqua-Master. It won't arrive in time for this weekend's trip, but I'll install it after I get back and, hopefully, get to dive it before cold weather shuts down my diving season.

I also broke down and bought my first computer, an Oceanic Veo 100. I got it because I want to do some NC wreck diving next summer and the dive ops seem to all want their clients to have one. I'll probably just leave it in gauge mode most of the time, in conjunction with my watch and capillary depth gauge, and continue to use my Navy tables. I just have this thing about relying too much on technology.

Congratulations! I think you'll really enjoy your PRAM, it lets you enjoy the best of what time has to offer.

You can always dive old school and let the computer run in the background. You may be pleased to see what multilevel calculations offer.

What kind of cold weather do you get down there?

By late October the temps are in the upper 30s and lower forties. By thanksgiving, it's in the twenties and we have snow. I don't do dry suit, so October usually marks the end of diving for me.

I would not expect that in West Virgina. Maine is looking better all the time!

The temps are already in the upper forties at night. Tomorrow, the high will be in the mid 70s. Alas, the season is almost over for me this year. I just hope I can finish my AOW before it gets too cold.

You will like the PRAM and it is capable of as much cold water as you are so don't let it stop you from diving.
Forgive me but I never understand the reason for putting a prefectly good computer in gauge mode. Even if you don't want to use it for NDLs, why not let it run its calculations just in case. If for not other reason, to let it log your profile for later study. Doing multilevel diving like I often do, a computer is the only way to go.

Herman,
I suppose how I use the comp will depend on the dive. Like spectrum said, I may let it do its thing in the background. Who knows, I may eventually come to trust it. There's just something about mixing electronics and water that makes me a little uneasy.

Yep. I hate how EVERYTHING these days requires batteries. Not only that, but almost everything requires a doggon tool to even get the battery compartment open nowadays. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!;)

:rofl3:

I will sometimes use both my 35 year old Edge and my newer Oceanic. I trust them both and all I need is a nickle to change the battery on either.
