Talk about pork barrel politics... who lined GMA's pockets for this one?

It's like 2hrs by car from Clarke to downtown Manila if the N. Luzon highway isn't backed up...

Guess the AC bar owners are celebrating... while the PG and Anilao resorts are gonna be pissed. What was a short 2-3hr transit from the airport will turn into 4-6 hrs! Guess who's gonna fly direct to Cebu from now on... :mooner:

But the question is... Where is the domestic terminal going to be? If they keep it at NAIA, boy is that gonna be fun transiting... :rofl3:

Yikes! that's messed up..

What is keeping the Philippines from opening more cities to international arrivals? Is it just for the airport tax revenue and Manila wants it all?

well the clark airport is named after GMA's dad while NAIA is named after the husband of one of her most influential critics. Pampanga is also her bailiwick and home of jueteng.

link won't open for me. so what about the fancy new terminal that has been sitting empty for years?

THis is actually a good thing. NAIA Terminal #1 looks like poop and is falling apart. This will give the Airport Authority the chance to fix some stuff. Clark is as state-of-the-art as you can get for an airport and is capable of taking heavy aircraft. So, not a bad thing really. The inconvenience factor is high for those traveling in and around Manila. I am more concerned about the "connecting" flights. How does that alter the schedule? Will you have to drive to Manila to catch a domestic flight? Ouch...if so, we are in for a huge mess.

In most airports around the world, the domestic and international terminals are right next to each other. I don't know why in Manila we have them so far apart and now its only gonna get worse.

It had gotten better if you ride PAL all the way. The new domestic PAL terminal is right there by the international. But riding from Angeles City to Manila to catch another flight will be a pia.

Soon it will not be an issue for those of us in the Visayas....the direct flights to Kalibo will take care of us.
