I'm headed to Alamagordo NM this weeked for 2 months and wanted to do some snokeling. Ive heard that elephant butte was a good place. Does anyone know of a dive shop close? I've looked but can't seem to find one. Thanks, Jake

Dive Quest Scuba in Las Cruces will probably be your closest option (about 45 minutes away an hour tops).
You need to get down to Cozumel!!! (as if you haven't already thought that)
If you were to go in a less traveled area in the middle of the week, you might get some decent viz.

The closest dive shop is Dive Quest in Las Cruces. They are a full service shop and great people to deal with. The viz at "Butte" is down due to Spring runoff and swirling sediment. Some days are better than others. You can call the State Park HQ at the lake and ask about diving conditions, or contact one of the marinas for a viz report. As they say in SW New Mexico, "if you can dive the Butte you can dive anywhere!"
