Ute Lake in Logan is about an hour from where I live I usually go there once or twice a month. That is my number one dive site . once in a while I will try somewhere else .I go to blue hole 2 or 3 times a year.

Hi -

I will be camping in New Mexico near Roswell and am interested in scuba diving Lea Lake. Anyone in that area - or know of someone interested?

I'm looking a diving either the evening of Thursday Sept. 4 or the morning of Friday Sept. 5.

Thanks,
Kathy
I have never dove that area (yet), you might want to try this link which gives "some" information http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Trails/8215/index.html or specifically this one:

I would love to be a buddy, but those dates don't work for me. Have a safe time.

then you have to educate them on the pony bottle redundant air concept and how that does the buddy job for you.

LOL. I've never seen a pony bottle cut you free from an entanglement or share the fun of a dive.

Elephant Butte is also diveable in NM.

It used to be worth a trip, but with the drought, low water, excessive nutrients and subsequent algae bloom, vis is for crab, and I wouldn't swim in it.

There have been reports of pets getting sick from it.

Couple of years ago at the lower end of the lake, there were times vis may have reached +/-20, but not now.

As for bottomless lakes, one of the LDS does arrange trips there. I've never been. guess it's aa silty bottom, and the first one there can mess it up pretty quick
