Ok, so heres the deal...

... i recently moved my entire life from the UK over to California. Im now looking for a new reg i can use primarily in Monterey area, occasional Tahoe and sometimes Sonoma County

Been looking at the Mares MR12 with the rebel second stages- they look ok, breath pretty good... but my LDS is pushing for the extra sale of the higher end reg... forget the name, but it is *dinky*...pretty sweet, but out of budget.

Will the MR 12 Rebel be ok?- thinking of taking it down to a max of 120' in dec/jan monterey is about the coldest itll go.

And will i get crazy stares if i put my primary 2nd on a 7' hose and have the octo bungied at my neck... to donate the primary 2nd in OOA. We do that a bit in the UK- feels more comfortable sharing that way. My LDS guy just looked at me funny...

Cheers

:eyebrow: I would love to dive with a guy with a long hose!
(Sorry, the north coast weekend...must've really gotten some sun!

Of all the wonderful places to dive in Monteray, why would you hang out at breakwater?

Because he's just starting to dive Monterey... so Bunny slopes for now...

Easy access to fills
Easy in and out....
Showers
Food
parking
sheltered
You get to meet a lot of other divers
Besides that's where you'll run into everyone... I might even say Hi to Chuck next time I see him there.
I love the Breakwater... specially now that I got a scooter I can do the wall, barge, and metridium fields all in one dive (in doubles of course)

NP use what you have it'll work fine... a buddy of mine dives the MR12 and it works ok for him.

Not sure if the MR12 has this issue, but I would install all the hoses and route everything. In some cylinder-style first stages, the routing can be a little sprayed out. This might prove less tidy if you are doing 7' primary and bungied secondary.

If you plan on going to doubles later on I would reccomend Apeks DS4's or Scubapro MK25's most of the guys on doubles are using those...
