Hello Everyone! I just joined this board yesterday on the advice of my dive travel buddies. I live in San Diego and love just about anything sports related particularly if it involves warm water. (Scuba..lol..of course, snorkeling, swimming, wake boarding, body surfing, windsurfing.......)
I am partial to warm, crystal clear water and diving in pristine, well-preserved and remote scuba diving locations(not many left anymore :-(. A few places I have dived: Barrier Reef, Red Sea, Galapagos, Cocos Islands/Costa Rica, Bonaire, Cayman, Belize, Cozumel, Islas Del Rosario(Colombia), Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Mediterranean, Sea of Cortez, Sydney, Australia (weedy sea dragon), New Zealand(Bay of Islands), Tahiti/Bora Bora, Cabo San Lucas, Manado, SouthEast Sulawesi and north to the Phillipines on a live aboard. I am an inactive PADI instructor and have logged over 700 dives. I've been thinking about teaching diving again, so I'm researching renewal options.
My last trip(May, 2005) was to Wakatobi in Indonesia. Wakatobi is far and away the best coral and macro fish life I have ever done. It is getting harder and harder to find places like it. The travel distance is definitely worth it and the concept of sustainable dive tourism is right in line with my thinking. I understand Wakatobi now owns a live-aboard, The Pelagian, and it starts plying the beautiful waters of the Banda Sea later this week.
Drop me line if you need any information about remote diving.
