Those dust caps suck. Made with a big void to trap saltwater.

Can anyone explain why all dust caps are not convex, so as to avoid this obvious problem?

I don't understand, how could a dust cap have any affect on how much water is inside your reg, if the water is already there when you put it on?
If it seals, the water wont enter it from outside anyway

Being able to more easily get SP reg usable parts would be a good thing

The concave shaped dust cap is very effective at trapping water after a dive. When you put the cap on, a drop of water can easily drip down into the first stage. If the cap were solid, or even covex, there would be no chance of this occuring.

They could do much better, especially for the yoke first stages.

The SP regs do look like the ODS ones. Amazing. Improvements are made on gear all the time. I am glad to see that Halcyon will now make regs.

The inlet protector caps are made by the same folks who manufacture (distribute) regulators. If you get water damage inside the first stage, most divers will take their regs to an authorized dealer for an expensive service. QED

Either that or so it will fit both a yoke and a DIN connector.

Hmmm, perhaps Halcyon will make the first stages available as DIN only, I own 3 SP MK25 first stages and have had to purchase a DIN conversion for the two I purchased recently as SP, for some inexplicable reason only offers them as yoke regs and forces you to buy the conversion now. Absolutely ridiculous. I wonder if a pending deal with Halcyon was the motivation for this.

Very odd, I bought two SP MK25s back in October and bout them both DIN. Is this something new?

Not sure, I'm just going by what two separate SP dealers have told me, and that is you can only purchase MK25 first stages as yoke now. That said you either got a couple of leftovers or I was fed a line of bull, which is possible, but would seem odd as I have heard it from two dealers. I do find it highly odd with SP's popularity with tech divers they would make getting DIN regs so difficult.

I have 2 of the A700/mk25, and both are DIN. One of regulators is 2 months old, and the others should be come in tomorrow. Sounds like you need to find another SP dealer.
