This IS good news.

I sure hope that my LDS can keep track of when that two year interval comes up. I can figure out the month, but the "did I have that reg rebuilt last year or two years ago?" is going to be a challenge!

Last time I had mine serviced, Scubapro sent me an email with the date on it. That should help, as it gives you something in writing to work off of.

I don't know if this kind of thinking factored into the decision....

There are some new and highly regarded regulators coming on the market that are much cheaper than some of the regulators being sold by the big name companies. In some cases, if you don't use a regulator enough to feel it needs annual servicing, you could ignore any annual service agreements completely and buy new regulators every other year or so for about the same cost as servicing the regulators annually. Sell you old regulator at a highly discounted price and you will be money ahead.

Just have them plug your info into the system ASAP. It will say Yay or Nay on your Free parts.

It is that simple.

Good Luck & Good Diving.

If you need any assistance, PM me.

I gotta give Scubapro props for sending me an email out when mine came up due for service...although I ignored it.

I also got my post pulled and a stern warning when I put a post up in the SP section asking if we would be alerted and what their grace period was. I thought they were legitimate questions that should be in writing, but apparently a mod thought not. My questions have been answered, but not by Scubapro, and not in their forum that should be specifically for being informative, but in threads like this one outside their forum. That part of SP sucks, the "you are not our customer, the dealer is". Any other manufacturer I would expect to hear from them in their forum.

Beginning October 1, 2012 SCUBAPRO “Warranty” and “Parts for Life” service interval will change from 100 dives or every twelve months to 100 dives or twenty-four months whichever comes first. The “Parts for Life” program will allow customers a period of twenty-four months to bring their equipment to an Authorized SCUBAPRO Dealer and the Authorized SCUBAPRO Dealer will have a one month grace period to have the regulator serviced for a total of twenty-five months or 100 dives, whichever comes first.

What does everyone think about this new policy?
The new Free Parts for Life policy is simple. Scubapro has just changed it from 1 ( one ) year to 2 ( two ) years. The # of dives is the same - 100 dives.

For example, if you dive 200 dives/yr., then you get 4 sets of free parts when you have your gear serviced at 100 dives over the 2 years.

Before you would also receive 4 sets of free parts when you had your gear serviced at 100 dives over the two years.

Now, if you dive less than 100 dives in two years you only have to get your gear serviced once.

This new policy should be to the user's advantage.

I believe it will be easier for the diver to stay within the service interval.

I have a question. I would have asked this in the ScubaPro forum where it actually belongs but the overprotective MOD group would likely have seen that it did not last.

First of all Beaverdivers, it seems you really have done a service to the SP owners with this thread. So for that I am sure all SP reg owners are thankful to you........BUT........the question:

Why are you explaining this? Why is ScubaPro not explaining this to the masses? They have a forum on SB....even an old "FPFL Explanation" sticky from when they changed their rules in January that they could replace. You've done good here but it really reflects poorly on SP and reeks of a complete lack of interest in customer service (by SP, not you).

Thanks ScubaSteve!

I would have placed it in the Scubapro forum, but you are correct it is their place.

My guess is it will show up there soon.

Realize Scubapro is very busy. They just ended their fiscal year and started their new fiscal year.

Also, they may feel that it is their dealer's responsibility to inform their clients.

Since many of my clients are members of SCUBAboard, I felt like it was an easy way to get the news out ( that is why I posted this thread ).

Besides, a number of SP reg owners (like me) are banned from the SP sub-forum for commenting in the last FPFL program change.

We can't read it or even see that it exists!

I have been busy researching this new policy. Our Scubapro rep. is here for our fall sale. We have been extremely busy selling SubGear/Scubapro gear.

I hope to post an update very soon.

Stop being a tease and tell us prices. Scubaboard does have a Hot Deals forum.

What does everyone think about this new policy?

Scubapro is changing the service interval to remain competitive with other manufacturers like Atomic. How many posts do we read on Scubaboard from Atomic owners bragging about the two-year service interval? The main problem I have with their policy is that it ignores the large number of divers that dive infrequently over time and thus lose coverage. In the past it was a matter of paying for the parts and getting reinstated. Now once you let FPL lapse you are forever out of the program.
