naskatucket:what do you open a .kmz file with?
MSilvia:I wouldn't call it a replacement, if only because most of those positions are approximate at best. If you have confirmed numbers, don't throw them out in favor of those!
mstudley:I've been messing around with Google Earth lately and started plotting local wrecks using numbers from Gary Gentile's books and overlaying images of the ships as I find them. This is a work in progress but please try it out and let me know what you think. Any tips/additions/etc are more than welcome. Just download the file, unzip it and open the kmz file with Google Earth. If you need help getting it to work let me know.
Ah.... I just realized that uploads aren't working at the moment... anyway, grab it from here instead: http://mstudley.googlepages.com/Wrecks.kmz That is just the KMZ file so you don't need to unzip it.
