Have a blast guys! And welcome to Adam! Hopefully meet ya in the Spring unless we have a non-diving NELD get together sooner!

You guys are such a *bad* influence on me.
(well at least I haven't been reading the board at work lately... thus my absence)

So I'm tempted with this winter diving thread. I'm drysuit certified and haven't really finished putting my gear away yet (most of it is still in the garage - bad mer!). The good news is that I now have Friday and Saturday off *shock* *horror*... but I can't go skiing cause I have to be at work those evenings. I'd have to rent and I haven't dove dry in 30 months.

So my questions for you guys are:
1) Am I the right ability level for this get together?
2) Where do you suggest renting drysuits?
3) Weighting - would you suggest pool testing the suit I rent? I'm confident that I remember how to operate and control buoyancy while dry, but since it's been so long since I dove dry, would it be prudent to jump in a pool first?
3a) If you suggest pool, where in the area would let me take a dip if I'm not associated with a class?

Feel free to PM me with any abuse... just in case my absense has left you craving "mer harassment." <pokes gmbaker>

I havn't dove in the winter in 8 years!!
Last night I found myself standing on my back deck dressed in my old DUI suit seeing how fast I would get cold :-) I didn't :-)
Iv'e got a few classes im taking at atlantic aquasport in rye this
sunday. Im bringing my drysuit to get reweighted and try out in the salt water pool !! Who knows maybe ill start diving all year again:drown: Ive been taking dec to march off last 8 years.
But im getting the bug bad hehe.

I imagine. You just need some time in a pool to figure it all out again.

2) Where do you suggest renting drysuits?

I believe the store in Chelmsford rents drysuits.

3) Weighting - would you suggest pool testing the suit I rent? I'm confident that I remember how to operate and control buoyancy while dry, but since it's been so long since I dove dry, would it be prudent to jump in a pool first?

Yeah, get in a pool. Though I'm sure we will just be doing a shore dive, it would certainly be prudent.

3a) If you suggest pool, where in the area would let me take a dip if I'm not associated with a class?

United Divers has a large pool in Providence. Since you've done training with them, I imagine they will have no problem with you using it. I'm going down there in early February to get my weighting down with aluminum tanks and a 7mm wetsuit.

I just turned my primary regulator in for it’s yearly service. My shop told me that it will be about 2 weeks. Maybe I’ll have it back in time for the 26th.

I'd be up for a dive on the 26th (who's bringing the nachos and beer?). I could also make the 25th if you want to move to Saturday so that mer can make it.

mer - I'd suggest Northeast Scuba in Chelmsford for a rental. They have a lot of drysuits out back waiting to go. Call them up and talk to them about renting, I bet they would let you in on one of their pool sessions to do a drysuit refresher session.

United Divers has a large pool in Somerville.

Are you thinking of their pool in Providence, RI? I don't think their Somerville store has a pool... they use a few of the local YMCAs.

Gary... don't move anything on my account... me schedule is oh so hectic and I don't even know if I can find a rental drysuit that would work.

I'll be there barring an emergency.
