I'm a new diver. I was certified in Marathon, Florida, and have no NE diving experience. I would love to get to know the area this summer, but I am a beginner and do not know the area. I live in the Houghs Neck area of Quincy. Any info would be aprreciated. Thanks!!!!!

Welcome to the NELD portion of the SB. Best advice I can give is to get wet. Well, maybe wait until June or so.

Take a specialty class, join a local dive club, stop by your LDS and see what dives they might be planning, and, of course, keep your eyes on the NELD postings. They'll be plenty of opportunites to dive -- everything from easy shore and boat dives to wrecks and deeper stuff. Also, if you don't have your own gear, maybe you could use the winter to make a few basic purchases like mask, fins, exposure suit, boots or gloves. Rent the more expensive gear(tanks, 1st/2nd stage/octo, computer) until you decide to stick w/ diving. But, of course, don't forget to look through the postings about gear reveiws on the SB. Invalueable source of mostly unbiased reviews.

And, I can recommend South Shore Divers as a quailty LDS I've been using for years. The owner Al and his first mate, Mike, are great guys and knowlegdeable divers. Shop offers gear purchases, training and a club meets there once a month. I've also used PG Dive in Newton for gear purchases and training.

I am also new to diving and live in Northeastern Massachusetts. I would love to find some people to go diving with. I have been going out with the local dive shops and enjoying it but I thought it might be nice to meet some 'dive buddies' to do some local diving. Anyone interested....let me know..

My name is Matt I live in VT about 5 min's from Lake Champlain, but willing to do some traveling, not a lot of experience but have my own gear. Willing to try anything, Did some diving yesterday (work related) and had a good time getting wet. Will be doing some classes this summer, AOW, and Rescue but still have time to dive more.
