An interesting comment that Cozumel is not really mexico. Hmm. My neighbor went down with me last year and was dissapointed with the food, he was used to northern mexican food that he knew from Monterrey you know, half of the platter covered with refried beans and rice. At times I wish I was back in the dusty villages of Chihuahua but there is no reef there and more narcos as well up north. I think Cozumel is as mexican as you make it. Head out to the neighborhoods. I had a great afternoon one day at a cantina on the other side of 65th. As long as we were drinking the food kept coming.
Los Angeles isn't really America, but it's a taste.

Already done that. Grand Cayman and Roatan are going to be strictly diving. Cozumel is half diving. Belize no diving.

What is your plan for Belize?

Drink enough anywhere and it can feel like you are in Mexico . . . .or Peru . . . .or. . .

ATV? Not ATM cave? Either way I get you.

Oh, we did the Xplor thing over by Playa. They had these big sort of GI Joe ATVs. You ran a course through the jungle and dipped into short underground tunnels. Being Mexico, you could actually hit the side of the tunnel. It was all marked up and the machines were banged up. They actually had someone on the course checking the headlights to make sure you didn't knock one out and drive into a cave without lights.

Erm, well, I didn't really say that right. I've got no use for ATVs but understand why OP is choosing a different adventure when in port at Belize. Frankly, I could not more strongly recommend the ATM cave as a the adventure!!

Don't know if the cruise ships are allowed to go to the ATM cave - time constraints and limited number of tourists.
I know that they don't go to the Barton Creek Cave which is well worth a visit.

Just my 2 cents - The OP would be better served doing Lamanai while in Belize

OK, I can throw my support behind that too!

A typical 2-tank Cozumel boat dive trip is roughly 3 1/2 hours. It's hardly all day. A one-tank dive (night dive, for example) usually eats up nearly 2 hours, so I really think the "normal" morning 2-tank trip is very much worth doing.

My son's girlfriend had her doubts but we twisted her arm. Now she has a full set of dive gear at the house and tends to push us to go diving when we want to roach around the pool. This is the true problem with going out to the reefs, in my opinion. It's habit-forming.

Yep. Depends on how much shore time your barge allows. They really like to hold you hostage onboard as much as they can.

Using Cozumel time, not ship time, what time do you arrive and depart? If it's close to Halloween, their daylight savings time change is different.
