A friend of mine has the same problem (mask frame pushing against his bridge) and swears by the mask he's using now: a clone of the TUSA Visualator. He also said the Visualator clone has a wider field of vision than his last mask.

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully others will chime in as well.

As I've thought about this some more, it makes sense to me that a single lens mask would be less likely to hurt the bridge of the nose compared to 2 lens models. There isn't a frame piece in that spot separating the 2 lenses, which is what I think pushes on the bridge of the nose and forehead. Perhaps I'll concentrate on the single lens models in my shopping.

Does that seem reasonable?
It does seem reasonable. In the shadow, for instance, there is no hard bits except the glass. It is very supple but not flimsy.
Definitely check out all the masks at your Local Dive Shops
Good luck.

Thanks to all for the replies.

Trying the mask on while keeping a reg in my mouth seems like a very good idea, which I will do when I try them out. I will take a look at any of the models suggested in the thread that I can get my hands on, but have ruled out buying over the net. I really want to try them on before buying.

Thanks to all.

Are you talking about using the mask, or just trying it on? If you mean just trying it on dry, I think most of the online shops will take returns on them. I know Leisure Pro will.

I often have the same trouble with masks. After a long dive I have a very irritated spot between my eyes and a headache from it.

I've had pretty good luck with the frameless masks. I've tried several of the ones we carry and really haven't found one better than another.

http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-32/029125/Aeris-Coral-Mask.html Aeris Coral is one I've had decent success with.

You might also try the H2O Frameless mask. http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-32/027655/H2O-Onyx-Frameless-Mask.html Notice from the picture there that it's shaped a bit different than some of the other frameless masks. Taking the skirt up a bit higher seems to have helped me quite a bit as well.

Good Luck!
