TekDiveGirl: You are my new heroine
You sound like you'd be fun to dive and learn with.

Awww shucks -- you are too sweet!

I read your site and trekking journal. You are one tough chickie. We could definitely hang out.

So here it is -- you make it to So. Cal. or I make it to Alaska (someday I do want to try ice diving) -- then we dive! I think a great time would be had by all!

Thanks!

I just wanted to help my wife narrow her choices. If I sounded "here dive it", I apologize. I just wanted to get more info from other female divers.
Anyway, we talked that she is the one who should study and decide. Well, she said she did not care. She wanted to get the same one I had.

I was just curious if BP/W is suited for many female divers in general. I also wanted to get some opinion on Zeagle and Transpac, so that I can tell her what all other female divers had in general.

Well last I checked I qualify as a female diver -- and I feel the bp/w is more suited for women than a jacket as it is infinately adjustable with regards to harness as well as changing the bp - wing for differing dive situations.

And if she doesn't want to be involved in the decision making -- says get me what you have -- then get her the bp/w -- you can't go wrong (unless you get an improper wing size) overall.

I don't have a Zeagle or Transpac so I can't help you out there.

I may not have spent too much comparing to some of you here at this forum , but I felt I did take extra steps and money to get where I am. My buddy who have had the BP/W setup told me that BP/W was not for everyone.

And why isn't a bp/w for everyone? I think we should start a campaign to get everybody in them -- oh wait -- another agency beat me to the punch. Well it sounded like a great idea at the time!!! :05:

I liked the Halcyon BP/W I dove in and I thought seriously about getting one. I also thought seriously about getting the Dive Rite. But in reading posts from women and talking with some, I find that some women who don't feel comfortable in the water (weak divers or poor swimmers) prefer the jacket. It gives them a sense of security that the wings and even the BI apparently don't.

Has she tried your BP/W? I agree it's not a comfortable thing to wear for a stroll at the mall...but you're not at the mall so who cares. It's comfy in the water and that's more important.

Thank you all for the advices.

She did not like BP/W with tank and felt too heavy. The thing is that she did not have a chance to wear a wetsuit, so I kind of knew she would not like it.
She tried Seqeust Libra. The padding felt good for her. She liked it. I explained about the waranty that Zeagle offers. She liked the idea of full lifetime warranty from Zeagle. We kind of assume Zena is comparable to Libra, so she decided that she would go with XS Zena. Zena is not that expensive comparing to other altanative jacket styled BCs or Libra. Although she does not seem to care, she likes saving some money getting Zena. I wanted to push BP/W, but you guys taught me not to. I was quiet.....

I think the Zena could be considered comparable in style to the Libra, except that the Zena has the neoprene front panels that distribute the BC and tank weight across the entire body instead of just on the straps. I hope your wife likes her Zena as much as I do! :D
