Every chance I get :D . Usually twice a month. 3-day live-aboards each Labor day and Memorial day. Day trips to Casino Point for classes or advanced training. Day boats to Catalina, SBI, Anacapa, Santa Cruz, San Clemente.
I'm eager to dive Santa Rosa, San Miguel, and San Nicholas, but exposure and conditions have so far kept me back.

There is a reason that the Channel Islands show up on most TopTen dive surveys around the world... It is an amazing and unique habitat. It's challenging to dive due to temperatures, currents, visibility (can be 5 feet to 100 feet).

The whole crew on the SoCal Kelp Divers forum is happy to answer questions if you want to learn more... or PM me!

Well, related to your original post, I did get a custom wetsuit originally to make the cold water more tolerable. 200 dives later, after shivering through a particularly cold winter, I added a drysuit to tool box. The past 18 months of diving has been much more fun for me since I'm now comfortable in the 49 to 60 degree water we have most of the year. July/Aug/Sept are the only months that consistently see water temps in the 60s and 70s... above the thermocline. At 100 fsw, it's in the 50s most of the time.

Now, the wetsuit is my lobster-hunting exposure suit, since I like lobstering from the beach in shallower waters.

The Channel Islands are wonderful.

LiquidFit gets my vote! The passion behind what Carolyn does comes through in everything about her business. Truly believes that it's ok that we don't have "off the rack" bodies.

That's a nice concept...

Spent 15 mins trying to find pricing but NADA. I emailed them to see if they actually have a price.

Just get Carolyn on the horn. If you can have the website handy you can talk though the patterns in the gallery and decide on your needs including thicknesses. Then she can give you a price.

Never heard back. Ill give it a day.

I'm picking up my custom 7mm full wetsuit from JMJ tomorrow and am going diving with it in Catalina this weekend. I'll let ya know how it goes. It ran me $350 total but i don't fit anything of the racks so it should be worth it. My friend ordered one at the same time as me.

What is the JMJ?

yea but WHERE do you get a custom made suit? I cant find anywhere.

Lisa was telling me about a lady who measured her every 5 inches to make a custom wetsuit. She hasn't bought one yet but they seemed to do a thorough measuring job. I don't recall the name of the company/person who makes them but if you want to PM her: justleesa

She said that it was going to be $300 or so...

My off the rack wetsuit (7 mil xcel) was $150 clearance price. Maybe I got ripped but I don't think so.

Liquidfit never emailed or called me back. Not a good sign.

Ill keep hunting. Thanks guys!
