Neck strap quick removal?

Ok so I have the infamous 5050, but I am always removing the neckstrap, I am looking for a quick solid simple way to connect and disconnect it when I put it in and out of the housing, any one have any ideas? I am also looking for some good port/lens covers, any ideas?

I use a an aftermarket strap by LowePro. I installed a couple of small rings (like you find on your keys) to the camera that allow the quick release from the strap to attach to the rings. When using in my housing I just unclip the strap and leave the rings on the camera. They are small enough to not interfere with my housing. The aftermarket strap is wider, softer and more comfortable on the neck than the stock strap.
