Also it can simply be a matter of timing. If you annoy the 250 lb guy standing next to you that just got served with divorce papers from a cheating spouse, you may become the target for his displaced aggression and you may suffer facial damage.

Two thoughts, Steve. 1) your divorce is now behind you and 2) maybe it is diet time so you can get back to slim 200 pounds. :rofl3:

I have read that doing so may force water into the first stage which can cause damage. Also it can simply be a matter of timing. Taking care of the first stage, everyone's ears, and not aggravating other divers makes sense. I have always suspected that the first stage was vulnerable while blowing out the dust cap, so a towel or rag will probably be my tool of choice from now on.

Regarding your recommended technique to educate others about the subject, I detect the slightest bit of sarcasm and perhaps joking. The others on here who seem to be more familiar with your personality all seem amused as well, so that makes me think you are not too serious about really trying it. If not, let us know how it works out for you next time you try it. Admittedly, the thought of it is rather funny...

As for myself, attempting to teach me the finer points of diving etiquette with such a technique would likely end one's day of diving and necessitate a long and expensive series of dental appointments for the prospective educator.

Looking forward to casting my vote on the matter.

It's going to be the highlight of your entire week, for sure.

Maybe even your entire year.

215 and dropping, and I can now fit into some of those 34 waist pants I shoved to the back of the closet!

Congrats :)

Yeah, Steve - Congratulations, for sure. What kind of diet are you on?

No specific diet per say, more like a change in attitude.

I basically stopped eating indiscriminately.

Sweets and desserts are "poison" including anything chocolate, sodas, etc. I don't drink beers and I cut way down on the juices, usually thinning them 50/50 with water or seltzer. Forget the chips and the dip and the fried foods, although I might slip on rare occasion especially during an NFL game...

I only eat enough to satisfy the appetite, I don't pig out just because it's there and it feels good to stuff my face, and I'm maintaining a fairly steady exercise routine. 46 minute treadmill workout which includes 4 "peaks and valleys" of 3.5 walking to 7.8 running and burns 620 calories and covers over 4 miiles. I do this 2-3x per week and followup with 20 minutes of abs on an Ablounge 2.

On our recent trip to Fiji, I went off my diet and just pigged out. I ate the bread, the butter, all the food and drink in front of me. At home I would have gained 10 pounds, but on vacation, I never gained an ounce in two weeks. But I was doing 2-3 dives a day and burning lots of calories (400 per dive ???).

Just think what you would have lost if you maintained that diet while burning all those calories...your friends and relatives probably wouldn't have recognized you when you returned from your vacation.
