Well, it would appear that I have led to people the think that I am a self-righteous, never made a mistake, in it only for me person.

1. I have brought bugs and scallops to the boat that I thought were legal that weren't. I had to throw them back.

2. I love the taste of striped bass and keep some of the legal stripers I catch over the season.

3. I love spearfishing.

4. I make lots of mistakes. I jumped off the side of my boat and tore my brand new drysuit wide open. I make expensive, dumb mistakes.

4. I do not think I am better than anyone here nor do I think that I have all the answers. I also know that for every issue there are at least 20 different opinions and perspectives. I try to respect informed opinions.

I said I wouldn't post anymore about this subject but wanted to explain my continued silence. I think it would be better if I left the board for a while but wanted to say that I have enjoyed and learned many things form the folks here. I am a better diver because of you. Thank you.

What would be the fun in spearfishing for stripers? At least using a fishing pole there is a challenge. It seems like stripers will swim righ up to divers.

I have never spearfished, so I don't know what it's like.

I think that spearfishing in RI is restricted to Skindivers but I may be wrong. There of course is some challenge in that. I have also touched flounder sitting on the bottom and they have not fled until I gave them a poke. I think most fish have little fear of us until you make a threatening move like aiming something sharp at them. I of course do not spearfish so have no real knowledge on the subject. I actually originally posted the whole thing tongue in cheek.

Sweet a typo.....was that a gift or a real typo. Don't go, just keep less personal. I may be a jerk but I would also fight for your right to say anything you felt with honesty and passion. You have a right to your own opinions, mostly if they agree 100% with mine of course. I of course am not a real jack@ss but I do play one from time to time on the Scubaboard.

Peace.
