This week, I've placed a second underwater geocache. For those of you who haven't played the game yet, it's a blast. All you need is a GPS receiver and access to the web. Visit www.geocaching.com for details.

This site is called Two If By Sea. (My second geocache, and you need to approach it from the water, so it seemed appropriate...) It's in Lake Norman, near Troutman. I placed it, then went back and found it using GPS and compass, so I don't think it's too hard to find, provided you don't stir up the muck on the bottom.

Viz is around 5-8 ft on a good day, so be careful. For folks new to the lake, Lake Norman has a clay bottom, so dives silt out pretty quickly. I'd suggest anchoring near the coordinates and descending along the line to give you a visual reference, hovering horizontally once you get 6-10 ft down, to avoid kicking up any silt. If you do it that way, then use any of the standard search techniques, you should find it easily.

Here is the link to the listing on Geocaching.com:

Good luck and safe ascents,
Grier
