it appears that it is about 30 miles to Oregon inlet and about 18 or so to Hatteras. Due to having to go through Frisco, Buxton and some other small towns, it may be easier and quicker to go to Oregon inlet anyway. I have not put in at Hatteras ramp so I can't give you any details on it. Oregon Inlet on the other hand is very nice, deep, wide , plenty of parking and a good bait and tackle store at the same area. Give them both a try and see which you like the best.

Distraction once bubbled...
So I found out that we're actually staying in Avon, NC, which is closer to Hatteras Inlet than Oregon Inlet.

Check with the Richmond Dive club.. They dive OuterBanks Diving (www.outerbanksdiving.com) quite a bit and may have some coordinates for some wrecks.. You'll be close to the lighthouse and I like the Quarterdeck restaurant and the Gingerbread House.

I was going to do a shore dive in nags head, its 200 yrds off shore 25ft dive heard the surge is bad. The vis is not great.

Hey guys, Hatteras Inlet is where the second annual bluewater spearfishing tournment is going to be held. There are great wrecks out of this inlet and even closer to the blue water than Oregon Inlet. A killer website about the OB diving is www.outerbanksdiving.com. Check it out. I thingk there are lots of stuff to dive with 15 miles of shore.

I'm going to Corolla T-Day and would like some info on wrecks near shore for some beach diving. Can anyone help?
