Hi All,
I've been hanging out on SB for a year or so, and just recently started checking out the Central FL forum and thought I would introduce myself here. I'm a relatively new diver ~30 dives, and looking for potential dive partners for local dives.
Most of my dives other than certification have been in my lake, but I've done a couple dives at the Skyway, and I did some really great beach dives in Southern California in January w/ some other SB members (HB Dive Girl, Mo2vation, LAJim, Compudude).
My gear set-up is primarily DIR-like (BP&W, 7' primary, bungee backup, Turtle Fins w/ Spring Straps, wrist compass & computer) and long term I'm looking at Cavern/Cave training. I would say I'm a fairly cautious diver, who knows his limitations, but feel I have pretty decent skills for a beginner (at least that's what the SoCal crowd thought). When I'm diving w/ a buddy, I stay very close and make sure I know the plan.
I was OW certified through SSI (Jim's Dive Shop) and have taken the Rescue class, just have to finish up my open water check-out for that.
I'm a husband, and father of a 14 YO girl who plays competitive soccer, so free time is often at a premium, but I try and dive as often as I can.
I'm looking forward to meeting and diving w/ some of you as the opportunity arises.
Coincidentally, I'm wondering if there is anyone doing anything this weekend? I'd like to do a fairly easy dive or two and check out my new computer (Cressi Archmedes II).
The rest of the family is out of town, so I have the weekend to myself, except for taking care of all of our animals. This means I can be away from home for ~8 hours at a time. If anyone is doing anything that might fit these constraints, please PM me.
Thanks,
John
