Hi All,

I've been hanging out on SB for a year or so, and just recently started checking out the Central FL forum and thought I would introduce myself here. I'm a relatively new diver ~30 dives, and looking for potential dive partners for local dives.

Most of my dives other than certification have been in my lake, but I've done a couple dives at the Skyway, and I did some really great beach dives in Southern California in January w/ some other SB members (HB Dive Girl, Mo2vation, LAJim, Compudude).

My gear set-up is primarily DIR-like (BP&W, 7' primary, bungee backup, Turtle Fins w/ Spring Straps, wrist compass & computer) and long term I'm looking at Cavern/Cave training. I would say I'm a fairly cautious diver, who knows his limitations, but feel I have pretty decent skills for a beginner (at least that's what the SoCal crowd thought). When I'm diving w/ a buddy, I stay very close and make sure I know the plan.

I was OW certified through SSI (Jim's Dive Shop) and have taken the Rescue class, just have to finish up my open water check-out for that.

I'm a husband, and father of a 14 YO girl who plays competitive soccer, so free time is often at a premium, but I try and dive as often as I can.

I'm looking forward to meeting and diving w/ some of you as the opportunity arises.

Coincidentally, I'm wondering if there is anyone doing anything this weekend? I'd like to do a fairly easy dive or two and check out my new computer (Cressi Archmedes II).

The rest of the family is out of town, so I have the weekend to myself, except for taking care of all of our animals. This means I can be away from home for ~8 hours at a time. If anyone is doing anything that might fit these constraints, please PM me.

Thanks,

John

Well let me start by saying welcome to central fl forum. There is always something going on around here, like this weekend it looks like some SBers are planing to do ginnie springs, you can talk to eandiver, he is into cave diving and looks to know his stuff. Cheak out this thread http://scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=183573 like I said there is always something going on.

Thanks for the welcome! Ginnie would be great except for the fact that I could only do maybe 1-2 dives before I'd have to head back home (the animals). When I go, I want to be able to spend plenty of time and get my money's worth from the admission fee.

Thanks,

John

John:
Whenever you want to go do Ginnie or any other cavern area , let me know!!!
I'm always up for some er ... Underwater rock gazing...
(I'm Cave cert so I'm up for most anything...skooterless that is ... I'm still just a swimmer)

And Welcome to Central Florida !!! :D
Lots and lots and lots of beautiful water here to dive in...
I do the non-salty stuff , of course.
