Aeolus:As with many others, I have been following this saga by way of Christi. You are indeed very lucky to have a friend like her in your corner. I wish you a FULL recovery and more happy diving later.
I guess the biggest question I have is: Why should it take several others pressing DAN before they would make the decision to continue treatments to the level of coverage? It still sounds like they were trying to limit payout. It always amazes me that most companies have the procedure to first say NO and then if pushed hard enough, give the attention which should have been there in the first place. This happens all of the time. It seems as though they will refuse service, hoping that a lot of people will just accept that response and go on.
I had a similar experience after some shoulder surgery and dealing with the insurance about the amount physical therapy needed. Everyone EXCEPT the insurance company (surgeon, PT and self) thought that more was required. Never did get them to cover more.
Good luck to you. DSAO.
Tim Ingersoll:Don't try and figure out what Chuck did wrong!!! Learn what you can do right.
RTodd:...Not to thread hijack, but there are more effective ways to spend 8 minutes reducing your DCS risk than just picking two stop depths. I will elaborate in a new thread if anyone actually wants to hear it.
MN Jeff:Christi-
Even before this incident happened, I was impressed with your prescence on this board. You always take the time to answer questions for people visiting the island (myself included). I wish we had a dozen more just like you. After hearing what you did for Chuck, my admiration has increased 10 fold. You are a truly wonderful person, and I wish the best for you and much success for your dive op. Thanks!
