I finally made up my mind. I no longer wonder why I was born into the world, and why I was given what I have now. My purpose in life is to be mega, ultra, big, huge, gargantuan, whatever big words, rich. Seeing that about half of the world lives at the poverty line saddens me. It makes me sad because even though we live in an abundant world, the distribution is uneven. I will, through fulfilling my purpose, become another force of positive change in the world. For diving and the oceans, I will pay to solve the unwanted bycatch problem and clean and protect reefs. Arriving at this conclusion is a big event for me. I'm 18 now, I plan on exiting by the time I'm 30. Wish me well, but critisize me if you want.

Nothing wrong with a yung person having big plans. Don't be suprised if your priorities change over time though. What do you mean when you say that you plan on exiting by time you are 30?

I remember when I couldn't imagine being 30. Well, I still can't imagine being 30...it came and went in such a flash that I barely remember it.

sorry, I mean retiring by thirty. Exiting is when investers pull out of their investments and get the money.

I'm 30 now.. for some of us its a turning point in our lives and only now are we starting to realize that what we did in the younger years was only a set up for now, and what we do now is only an idea of what we may like later, but thats bound to change. So you start to enjoy each day as if tomorrow wasn't going to come, appreciate your family, friends, aquaintences, etc., like you'll never see them again, and at some point it clicks... being rich with money is nice and has its perks, but it doesn't even compare to how rich you really are when your rich in spirit.

I'm workin' on my "Freedom 35" plan right now as well...

But, it sure as heck dosen't involve teaching diving anymore!!!

What is my purpose in life? I struggled with that one for a long time, gets even more confusing when you add religion to the equation. As of yet, all I have learned, is that life is a B, and then you die..........so, I will enjoy it as much as I can, no matter what it takes.

I don't think freedom is "not working", you are still a slave to something, and there is no such thing as freedom. Life is backwards, when you're young and have the strength and energy to do fun stuff, there usually isn't enough money to support your life style. When you're older, sure, no what do you do with the money, you are just waiting to die anyway. It would be nice if we can change the model so that parents would invest in their kids youth by saving money for them from the day they are born.

You can however use the laws that restrict your freedom to your benefit. Don't mind gravity, let’s go ski-diving.

I admire your goal and your optimism and I hope that you succeed. And when you get there, just don't be surprised if the money changes you.

I wanna retire at 30, too!!

What? What are you all looking at?

I've had so many turning points in my life that I've just about lost count. LOL Just when you think you done...here comes another one.

yes. the things that are important to me now don't even resemble the things that were important to me when I was 30.

Being cold and hungry can make it hard to be happy but beyond that I haven't found that the things you can get with money make you all that happy...at least not for long. The people with the most money sure don't seem to be the happiest. They are just the ones who can afford to buy the most prozac.

I worked very long and very hard for so many things that I don't want any more. In doing so I neglected many other things that were right in front of me and were already mine.
