You may find that with a BP/W you don't need as much weight on the belt as you did and not just because the thing is heavier than a BCD. I would suggest a pool session or something to check trim before you go because it'd be terrible to get there and find the dive uncomfortable because your trim was way off.

By the way, Cairo is located where? There's a Cairo, MO not 5 miles from my house.

Well i am using Al backplate so the weights is quite the same i guess i will fingle with it next month.

Well i am probably 10,000 miles away i live in Cairo, Egypt :D

After a hundred dives or so the velcro on my integrated BC wore a bit and my weights became self ditching. Most disconcerting. I have switched back to a belt. The D.U.I. weight harnesses do look interesting to me though. I'm leaning in going that direction.

There are NO Good reasons for a rec diver to wear a belt - and I can't think of any for anybody else either!

Beacuse the rig can get prohibitively heavy for some with nothing but missery depending on where when and how you need to don and doff.

If there is one thing I have learned it is that there's no such thing as a universal configuration.

Love mine, with my drysuit I can carry it low for trim and it's very comfortable in and out of the water.

Halcyon does offer ditchable weight pockets that attach to it and most any backplate. Also, Apeks has ditchable weight pockets for a backplate. Same as rec bc's, but made for the BP.

They are a very nice feature , ive got them and love it , i still take my weights outevery dive , once the weight is got its so much easier to remove or put on the plate.

XS weight pockets , $8 and make great trim weights, i mount mine to the upper band, cant tell a difference in turning with it there either

Well the problem with Pockets i guess is to put 1 weight pockets on each side on side will have the velcro so the strap will not close right...

it was a mistake to buy the AL but anyway i love the backplate

Diving a wetsuit I don't need a weightbelt.

Diving dry I use a DUI W&T system. I use it because it relieves my back and (no) hips from the burden of the weight belt, which in my case never exceeds 16 pounds and is typically much less.

Rather than use a harness pocket, have pockets put on your suit.
