looks more like a wrase than a perch.

here in the uk a perch has black, white and redish vertical stripes, real sharp spines down its dorsal fin and is a meat eater (i.e. other fish), and it is fresh water


hmm... that's interesting, cause around her this is what is asssociated with a perch. They are often brought up on the deep sea fishing charters. Divers in the area have also been known to refer to them as PEI piranha for their carniverous actions. This year there has been a large number of these guys around for some reason, and some of them are getting pretty big.
