LOL - I know. Just joking. Although in 2001 when I travelled a lot around the US, I sure had trouble finding good micro-brewed beer. Its very popular up here, but doesn't seem to be too common down there.

Nothing like a good dark slightly bitter ale!

You mean like Molson Golden?

Darryl, you have to head over to the Bells Brewery in Kalamazoo. Hands down the BEST beers I have ever had. I have been over there a few times and all those guys want to do is drink beer and show you everything in the brewery. Great bunch of guys. If you're ever out diving on Huron, let me know and I'll drop some by your boat.

Remeber, alcoholic is a derogatory term, I prefer Alcohol Enthusiast
:D

LOL - I'm not sure if you're joking or not but, no, nothing like that.

None of the big name breweries make a really good ale.

Have you ever heard of Big Rock brewery? They're based out Calgary, but are becoming really popular all over the country. They make a good beer.

Canadian hockey fans... beer. Inevitable. Oh well, go with the flow of suds, I guess.
dvleemin - there's good microbrew to be had in the US - but you have to look for it. Local knowledge helps and the usual rules apply - avoid the stuff produced by the big breweries or anything with "lite" on the labell. Even found some good beer in DC (specialty bar, took a bit of effort to find but it's there), so O-ring has no excuse... not that we believe his "drinking" stories anyways :D

Dark ales rule, yes. Ever tried a dark lager? They're comparatively rare, but there's one brewed by a micro in Waterloo. Might want to try it if you're ever in Ontario - you can even get it in TO.

I used to really enjoy O'Keefe's Extra Old Stock. It came in Foster's sized cans and you needed to go to Canada to get it.

Can you still get it? I haven't seen it in years.
