You lost me there. ????

Were you trying to imply that I don't contribute to dive related forums?
No, I imply that making a thread to whine about the lack of "on topic" threads is pretty far off-topic and counter-productive..

oouch that hurt. geez here I thought I was meeting other divers with similar intrests outside of diving as well as diving. after seeing your profile I can see you are more deeply involved and invested in diving than myself. So that being said tell me about your diving experiances, whats your story that looks like some serious gear rebreather and all. lets talk diving.

personally ive always found diving a very social thing...its not just the 80mins underwater diving but the chat before setting up, the snacks afterwards, the show and tell of pics and reports ect. afterall, you can only talk about splits v paddles so much

and SB reflects that - as its become more of a commuity, its forum has grown to suit divers that want more than the nuts and bolts info about gear & diving

but

the admins of SB are always listening to its members so there are always options for you. you can ignore threads, ignore forums or ignore particular posters so you can set up your account to what YOU want see on :sblogo:

cheers :D

Every year...a thread just like this gets started. Maybe it has to do with the seasons????? Not everyone lives in florida.

But feel free to go to the decostop and buy/sell some gear.

I guess this is predominately a Humor, Games, Clips, Yarns and Tales website now, and not a board about scubadiving.
If you could do a "new posts" search from 5 years ago, you might be surprised. The memory is a funny thing...

My interests on this board are 90% diving, and I don't post in the pub. But I can appreciate that the social aspects keep many divers coming back who would tire of the diving subjects that interest me.

And, as long as we are looking at pure stats, the real truth is that there are still predominately scuba threads, and there are more scuba posts today than ever before. Sure, there are tons more social threads, too, but that is why we all have the option of picking and choosing what we want to view.

And, knowing a little of the history, if the board hadn't become "for profit" there might not be a scubaboard at all, at least in the grand sense we know it, with a priceless database of thousands of diving related posts by everyone from the brand new OW diver to Chatterton and Jablonsky.

I just turned 50, and it's work for me to change with the times. And sometimes I don't like it, and I sound like my father. But in a world that is becoming more digitally-social every day, it is reassuring to see this board changing too, for it means that it will be around for a long time.

Still, I will (mostly) stick to the diving related threads, thanks. Bit I am thankful for those who are not limited by my narrow choices.

24 hours later, there are only 3 humor, etc., etc... threads on the first page of 'New Posts'. Last night was probably an anomoly.

I find it interesting how I made an observation and some took it personally. I didn't bother to see who was posting were, and it didn't matter to me anyway. I was involved in a couple of conversations about a few different dive topics and I found it 'humorous' that most of the talk was about humor.

:)
