Sharksdelight, do you have any sample songs you created ? I've played around with Acid Music and found it difficult to create an actual song. Even listening to other peoples stuff sounded like just a couple of loops thrown together.

Ron,
If you go to Mary Lynn Price's Divefilms.com site and click on Nocturnal Nebulous you can hear the music I have created in Apples Soundtrack and, one piece, from Smart Sound. Acid, like Soundtrack(tho I haven't used Acid) is more time consuming, by far, than Sonicfire. A piece must be built and a feel for the music is important. You don't have to be a musician but, you are correct, simply splicing one clip on another is not the best way to go. Sonicfire can be used by anyone whether they have a music background or not.
I'll have to check at home but I think I have saved other music pieces that I created that I can send you if you wish. You know as well as I , however, that a piece of music must fit the footage and the mood you're trying to create.

I have a couple of video clips that I would like to put some tunes to. I want something relaxing and smooth. I do not normally listen to stuff like that so I do not know any artist that do that sort of music. Can someone point me in the right direction here? Thanks

I asked myself this question a little while ago so I went into my iTunes collection and found something from an artest you'd never suspect: Jimi Hedrix. from the Electric Ladyland LP I used a tune caled "Mermaid". Edit and loop it as you see fit.

While on water theams "La Mer" by Claude Debussy comes to mind. I like John Coletrane too. Actually Debussy and Coletrane are alike in that both are so abstract that they do not "steal" the action from the video. I really do not want a "catchy" tune under my video.

Also I don't really feel to bad about ripping off Hendrix, Coletrane or Debussy. Neither of them will see any more money for their work no matter what I do.

I come at it from a different angle - know what music you want and then build the film edit around it - gives a much more integrated result in the end I think:

Check out my whale shark film from Honduras at www.myspace.com/shurford

If you like it, pass the link on please :)
