But how about run the adds horizontal rather than vertical, remove all that whit space as you scroll through a typical thread.

You're clearly to dense to understand the issue.
So let me explain it more simply.

The issue is not that there are adds, it's that the adds are interfering with the functions of the site for a vast number of users. If they stop visiting the site, scubaboard goes away.
