At Breakwater today, one dive following the pipe and another around middle reef. Excellent visibility for the site, at least 5m / 15ft, sometimes more, to a depth of 12m / 45 ft. Water 16C / 61F. One of those weird days where there were decent size swells, at least a few feet, but only for about 45 minutes. The rest of the day it was super calm.

2 dives at Pt, Lobos yesterday, Cannery Pt. Reef & Hole in the Wall. Completely flat seas. 15-20' milky white viz. Apparently this weekend, everywhere but Lobos had great viz, go figure. .

Lots of big 2' + vermillions. A few sheepshead, but not the big colorful males.

Saw a 1' red male rock greenling and its black/grayscale female xerox, swimming together like paired figureskaters, fluttering their fins, then the male swam up vertically and then nose down fluttering its fins, followed by the female swimming around, fluttering fins. Im assuming they were either making babies, or the male was negotiating, successfully, about making babies. Good for them.

Breakwater today had 25-30ft vis and calm. 56 degree water. 68 degree sunshine. Looking forward to winter diving.

Howard and I arrived to a sunny day but the ocean looked a bit rough. Some divers took one look and left but being old salts we dove anyway. It was a bit of a challenge and a work out at times fighting the surge, especially on the way back. Still, once we reached 40 feet it was calm and we had 5-10 feet of vis. Close up video of many colorful critters came out nicely. Look for purple sea urchins, orange puffball sponges, red, green and rose anemones, soft coral, white and orange soft sponges, starfish and a crab. Listen carefully and you will hear the crackling of shrimp. We dove to 43 feet for 48 minutes. Temp.57 degrees.

Did North Monastery Chutes and Wedding Rock with Mubin today. 40-50ft vis at Chutes. Calm and blue 60 degree water. Wedding Rock 30-40ft vis. Third dive we did Breakwater wall to kill off the tanks. 20ft +/- vis. Saw the swell shark again. Traffic coming home was lighter than normal.

This thread seems in need of an update. Didn't dive today but realized I don't think shared video from my last dive which was a night dive at breakwater. Heard humpback whale song throughout that dive which I have never heard diving this area before but recognized it from past diving in Maui. The video managed to pick-up a bit of it.

North Monastery today was 30 +/- vis milky blue. 51 degrees.

There was a pod of dolphins in the water when we got in. Saw them on the surface but not underwater. Typical. Wonder where all the lings have gone. Only saw one small guy. Second dive was Breakwater. 15ft vis +/-. Swell shark is ready to hatch. Saw its gills pumping and breathing. Very cool.

12/15/18,
Dove the bay on Beach Hopper II, 60' to 80', water temp 57 degrees, 25' visibility.
lots of dolphins and seals on top.

Yesterday was really rough, but today things are calm at the Breakwater, however the vis is no better than 5 feet. Still worth diving though if you're down in Monterey.
