Hi there,

Anyone interested in doing a one or two tank dive late Monday afternoon/ night?

Photography or Bug hunting. I don't care.

I am thinking of North Cresent. Possibly Deadman's or Seal Rock. I will be down there around 5 or 5:30pm.

If interested in joining me, PM me or call (714) 514-1962

Cheers!

If I would have checked the board yesterday, I would have met you down there. We probably could have gotten Renee to meet us down there after she got off work.

I thought solo diving in Laguna was illegal? Isn't it a city ordinance?

I read that a snorkel and a buddy were required when diving in Laguna Beach.

Yes it is illegal in Laguna Beach, and can earn you a ticket if caught. I have been questioned by police about if I had a buddy when I was gearing up and by lifeguard when I came down the stairs a little ahead of the group.

Jan, do you want me to arrange your surrender to the city so you can turn yourself in?

City of Laguna Beach Municipal Ordance 18.21.030 Hazardous skin diving and scuba diving--Discontinuance orders authorized.

(a) Hazard to Others or Self. No person shall participate in any skin diving or scuba diving activity at any time in the Pacific Ocean within the city in a manner that constitutes a hazard to any other person or to themselves.

(b) Authorized Order to Discontinue Skin Diving or Scuba Diving. The city manager, marine safety chief, police chief or their authorized designees, or any officer or employee designated by the city manager to enforce surfing regulations and control skin diving and scuba diving activities, may prohibit skin diving and scuba diving at any time diving conditions become hazardous as a result of storm, congestion of persons, lack of proper equipment (such equipment to include mask, fins, snorkel, buoyancy compensator and diving partner) or other conditions which cause a present danger to the persons skin diving or scuba diving or to others. No person shall fail, refuse or neglect to stop skin diving or scuba diving activities or to leave the water when ordered to do so by any such employee of the city. (Ord. 1369 § 7, 2000; Ord. 1157 § 1, 1988: Ord. 506 (part), 1962).

Just keep doing it. I've been diving alone many times in Laguna. Sure I get questioned if it's during the day, and who actually dives with a snorkel? LOL-Everyone knows a snorkel is only good for consuming large amounts of adult beverages.
Anywhoo, how much can the ticket actually be? If the rules are really enforced, there would be signs stating the city rules.

Rules Shmules.
