"Don't touch that! You don't know where it's been!"

If you've never heard those words spoken to you with urgency and command, you've probably never had a childhood.

As you grew up, you discovered that it wasn't such bad advice, either. All the stuff you may have found so fascinating and interesting had a tendency to also be covered with slime, dirt, stinging somethings and other assorted nastiness that later might require the tender ministrations of 'Doctor Mom'. This 'Doctor', of course, was not above pointing out that "this is what happens when you don't listen to me!"

Well, you're all grown up now. Able to make what may be smart decisions that affect your life in so many ways--including taking up scuba diving.

There was also a story a couple of years ago about a diver that lost a finger up to the first knuckle "teasing" a puffer.
