Sorry, do you mean 150-200 degrees Fahrenheit ? not Celsuis, right ?
Could we ask Sealife to make those blue tubes individualy sealed, so when you need one, you don' t mess with the others ?
Thanks

Degrees F. Not trying to melt the silica, just remove the moisture!;)

I believe they come 10 to a pack, originally, but since we are re-using them one or two at a time, (depending on the case you are using) it is no hassle to re pack them as I need.
I don't think Sealife suggests us re-using them anyway though, so they might like your individual pack idea.

The munchies that came with the dc800 are pink. Are these DOA?
Thnx

Haha! Got to watch those American posters. When I travel, I take a small, outdoor thermometer with F & C both so I can see the air temps without converting C to F. :eyebrow:

Individually packed munchers? An idea that would help others, as they do start turning as soon as you open them. I used to throw the used ones away on a trip, putting in a new one as needed, but even the never used ones would turn pink by the time I got home, it seems. Now of course I just put them back in the zip lock. Looks like that small amount is going to last me forever, and I still have a quart of it in the package, also inside a large zip lock.

Walgreens was but one source for Damp Rid, but I don't know the availabilities in Peru or elsewhere? If one cannot find the Damp Rid, your idea of gentle warming may work by just putting them in a sealed, quart/liter sized glass jar at 80+F/27+C in strong sunlight for a day might get them to 150F/66C?

There were posts early in this thread about microwaving them, but on lower settings than my cheap device can use. You can see pics of my exploded munchers on post #26. :shocked2:

OK , thanks for your help. I just put the munchers in the little plastic bag sealed, on the rear table of my car in the strong sun we have here today. I will watch if they turn blue.

They are currently useless. Must have been exposed to air, not in the plastic package. You can rejuvenate them with the methods discussed on this thread. Before this thread, I always replaced them, but at $1/each - I like rejuvenating. :D

I think for that to work, there needs to be at least a liter of air involved, and the starting humidity will affect possibilities of success. I kinda doubt it will work as well as a large oven, but if you can't find Damp Rid and the oven or microwave tricks are not available - worth a try.

If you live on the coast, I would think that Damp Rid would be available as humidity is a problem for electronics, firearms, etc. A Google search for Damprid Peru suggests this link: Damp Rid, Inc. Ask them where you may find it...?

Yes, the average humidity here in Lima is around 85 to 99 % so, we do have some kind of electric devices, but useless to humid, even in summer like today, we must have 75%.
We live nearly in an aquarium like fishes...

Sorry, I noticed you were in Peru, but I missed the city. :silly:

You have similar humidity problems to most coastal cities worldwide. I live in an arid area so was surprised at how easy it was to locate the product. I'll be that it is available there; try that link to email and ask the company who carries it in Lima...?

Ok, i understand now, we do have some kind of Damp rid stuff, another brand or local name maybe, but should work.Just need to seal with duck tape a plastic bag and try.
Thanks again
