Sometimes I putz around so slowly that I start to get a little chilly when using my thin trilam suit... especially without the argon placebo.

So... I asked Janice of Softwear undergarments to make me a polarfleece vest that I could layer over the top of my 300g polarfleece undergarment.

Yesterday I tried it out for the first time. I was a little concerned that it might add more buoyancy since she made it from 200g material.

Well... it worked perfectly!

Not enough extra buoyancy to be noticable but it really did help up in the cold layer.

Our dive was 119' max for 53 minutes and tempurature at the bottom was 50F but we spent 30 minutes of that dive putzing around at 30' where it is colder from all the runoff (guessing at 47F~48F.)

and timely.

I'm currently bidding on a Polartech vest for Jaye - she gets chilly in her tri-lam these days (50 - 52 degrees...) I didn't want to pay DUI's extortion for their +5. I may need to send Janice a note.

Hmmmm

Hey Uncle Pug

Great IDEA !

I have a thinsulate seeveless vest (jacket liner) I can wear under my 300 gm polar fleece this weekend.

The water is 34°F in the Atonabee River
We're doing a drift dive this saturday

My ring seals and dry gloves are assembled and ready to go.

Actually i was thinking of getting a vest like that.Out of curiosity how much did it set you back?Did you have to add an extra pound or two to make up for the vest?

I didn't have to add any extra weight. As for the cost you will have to email her.

I sent a note to Janice (who still had Jaye's size on file) and she constructed a vest that day and got it out that night.

Dove it yesterday in 52 degree water - Perfect fit, and (according to my warm wife) noticable difference for her....very toasty.

Thanks for the tip!
