Come in please Luis

The seller said he'd like to have the tolerances. I assume he's not used to tolerances at the bottom of the page. I told him:
  • .X = +/- 0.010: numbers with one decimal are +/- 0.01"
  • .XX = +/-0.005: numbers with two decimals are +/- 0.005"
  • .XXX = +/-0.002: numbers with three decimals are +/- 0.002"
Can you confirm, just to be sure?

Yes, that is kind of typical tolerances. That should not be too difficult, but let me know if he has any issues with the tolerances or any dimensions.

The 17mm socket is probably fine. But, if it is not too hard I personally prefer not to mix metric and imperial tools in one piece of equipment. Years from now, no one knows who is going to be servicing these regulators and they may not know of the replacement part. This is a minor consideration, but if it doesn’t cost more I think it should be considered.

And yes, I expect many MK-5/ 109 will still be in service many years from now. :)

I would probably buy about 5. Maybe more if we need it to place an order.

Bad news!
The supplier confirmed a price of 8.54 euros (11.22 dollars) but the minimum quantity is 160 pieces.
I have some doubts we can come even close to that quantity. I own only one MK5 and could use max two bolts.
Sorry.

Well, rats....but thanks for trying, Zung.

Zung,

Thanks so much for doing all the leg work!! I'd be willing to order several more than I need, but you're right, I don't think we will get anywhere near 160.

Oh well.

Best wishes.

The seller told me he's trying to talk to the machine shop to bring the minimum quantity down.

Meanwhile, he asks for specs for surface roughness (Ra?). Is there anything special we must consider? The piston side of the flange may contact the piston, but only at rest, and I don't see no friction to be afraid of. The other side has a washer to protect the swivel. Will a "natural" finish be enough, assuming they'll take a rod and turn it to shape?

No special surface finish required. Just standard machining practice.

Thanks

I have 3 MK5s (or maybe 4), so I'd take 5 turret bolts at that price (or close). Thanks for looking out Zung.
