Has anyone dove this missile silo in Eastern Washington that I hear about but cant find anyone who has dove it?

Personally diving inside a missile silo just sounds friggin cool, so if anyone has been in it and feel like giving me a quick narrative and some contact information that would be great

Thanks for your time

Hi Jumbo,
Ben here, in Eastern Washington. The missile silo has been closed to divers for several years now. It's privately owned, and I am not aware of the reason for it's closure. I never did the dive - always figured I'd get around to it, but I waited too long. : ( Sorry.

Ben-

Thanks for the reply, thats a real bummer its shut down.

I talked to a local dive shop owner in tri cities last year. And he told me that they were trying to let the farmer give them rights to the silo area and do the clean up. Aperently the farmer had stored some chemical drums that leaked and the county shut it down. Being that he is a farmer he is not to concernd about the cleanup or the divers. The dive shop owner said that they were going to try work something out with him.. He did say that it was a really cool dive though.

If you ever get down to Abilene, TX, there's a missile silo down there that is divable. This LDS owns it. Here's a map to the place. I dove it a couple of years ago on a trip put together by Debraw here on the Board. It was a BTDT dive, but an experience!

Keep us posted on the clean up. Hopefully it will happen.
Have a buddy who dove the Texas Silo. He said it was a great dive experience.

I talked with the owner of our LDS this past week about the future of diving the silo here. Turns out to be quite a sorted tail. Bottom line is the landowner has concerns that there has been (agricultural) groundwater contamination and doesn't want people in the water. LDS has considered paying to test the water so diving can resume. I'll keep you posted as I find out more.

Sounds like this dive could happen. Thanks for the update. keep them coming.

I'd help pay for the water test if I could dive that silo, what kind of farm is it on? Im sure it cant be that bad, maybe the farmer could rent FFM,s at the barn
