Hello,
One of the newbies here again. As mentioned before, I just moved back from FL and all my stuff is still there in storage--including my DIVE GEAR! I had no idea I would need it. Aren't I pleasantly surprised :) Can anyone suggest a reputable place in Lexington to rent equipment until I'm able to retrieve mine. I'd like to crash one of these dive parties and see what it's like to be a freshy. Thanks for the feedback.

New Horizons on Regency Rd. or Innerspace Scuba near Turfland. I go to New Horizons for everything I need so I don't frequent innerspace. The guys at NH are great and have been my only source for diving needs.
As for diving in the local area looks like some may be planning this weekend or next... Anyone care to make firm plans?

You can't really crash anything that is a KPP event....I mean these guys don't have a clue what a crash would look like since they live in that state.....

Seriously...they are a lto of fun, and the two shops mentioned should be able to provdie just about anything you need...but I'm from Dayton OH, so what do I know.

I've always found New Horizons to be too expensive on everything. I've never rented equipment there for that reason.

I took my Dacor reg. there last month to try to get it serviced. They said they couldn't even get parts for my first stage for about 6-7 months, and were trying to sell me a new one...in short, it would have cost me around $150 for it all. I took it to the Scuba Shack in Florence and got it done for about $60 within 3 weeks, and got to keep all my original equipment.

I usually deal with Innerspace, unless there is something they can't do.

At least you guys have LDSs in your area that you like....

There is not 1 shop in Dayton that I like at all....at best, SODA is O.K....but I don't agree with their teaching philosiphy.

As a matter of fact, I decided to try and give one shop a second chance...and I inquired about a BP/wing.....they told me to stop and and they would contact their rep...and he would tell them to tell me what I need. No thanks....I know what I want, I know what I need. I don't have to have some bone-head trying to tell me I need something else.

Dive shop # 3 can "get" me nitrox if I ask for it 3 days before I need it (I have no idea where he "gets" it)

Dive shop # 4 is notorius for selling gear that is already sold to someone else....and is like 30 minutes away anyway....so I'm running out of faith in Dayton....

You're close enough to go to the Scuba Shack...it would be a little bit of a drive, but they were great with getting my gear serviced. Super nice and good prices. I don't know if they were one of the shops you were talking about, but I liked them for what little I dealt with them. And what about Cincy? There is a shop that oversees projects at the Newport Aquarium...never dealt with them but it sounds like it would be worth checking into.

Where's the scuba shak?

I have been to 2 shops in cincy....one in Blue Ash, and one over on the west side....I wasn't real impressed with either of them.....the one in blue-ash was willing to give me EANx without me testing or logging the tanks, and the one on the west side was nice, and I have only been to once...nothing impressive...lots of people were there b/c of some demo that day so I didn;t get to talk to anyone other than "would you like to buy that?"....I can't remember who's demo, but I wasn't interested in what they were showing....seemed like a bunch of crap to me....but it was a demo

Scuba Shack is at 7333 Burlington Pike...take Burlington Pike exit, and go left (away from Florence Mall). It's about a mile down the road on the right. It's a small place, you gotta keep an eye out for it. There is a red bus in the parking lot that says "Scuba Shack" on it. I think they use it for diving road trips. They have a web site too:

http://www.ScubaShack.cc

I'm having trouble pulling it up right now, not sure why.

I think I'll have to check it out sometime....

I'm so used to have everything'a'plenty right there. I got irritated if I had to wait for the guy in front of me to fill my tanks. Ah, but I guess it's worth it. Thanks for the info. I'll check them out. I'll let my fingers do the walking :) Later gators
