I have had experiences with several shops in the Cincinnati area. My reg's and computer and my wifes camera came from Scuba Shack, my wifes BC came from Planet Ocean, and her wetsuit was purchased at Central Coast. All three are great places to deal with. PO rarely has what I need in stock but I get by far the best prices from them and I am kicking myself int he arse for not buying an Atomic reg from them instead of the Scuba Pro. The service and knowledge are great at SS and CC, but I have foudn that you shouldn't expect much of a discount from Scuba Shack and sometimes they are sumstantially higher than other shops in town. However I appreciate Jim's (the owner) willingness to shoot he breeze with me about all things scuba. Cental Coast doesn't offer a whole lot of what I want these days but the service is excellent and they have very quick turn-around. Another plus for Scuba Shack is that they have never complained abut me buying gear on line when I get a great deal. There is another shop in town in the Fairfax area that was very nice to talk to also but not worth the drive there for me. One thing to keep in mind is that you are now paying an extra 1% in Ohio sales tax so it pays to shop in the Bluegrass State.

I'm from Los Angeles, CA and moving to Lexington was as much as culture shock as moving here from Ft. Lauderdale, I'm sure you'll agree.

There are 2 shops in town Innerspace and New Horizons. Both have really good people working at the shops but as far a selection goes its limited. New Horizons appears to have a greater selections but only carries a few brands. I have bought equipment from both shops and prices are reasonable considering we're in a land locked state with limited competition. But after reading some post I'm thinking of making the trek to Florence or Ohio to check out some other dive shops.

As far as training goes New Horizons has pretty good instructors and from what I hear so does Innerspace. I'm going to use both for my training needs.

As far as crashing some dives goes I want to crash some too. I'm recently certified with no buddy so if ANYONE is looking to do some local diving and needs a buddy I'm there.

PS: Welcome back to Kentucky
