Wow! in just a few minutes, this post has has a bunch of viewers
If you want to dive the second largest reef of it's kind in the world, second only to the reef off Ausiland and you have a limited budget or you just like to travel that way, post here and chat about what you would like to do.

Depending on the timing I might be interested in that. When were you thinking of going?

Well, sometime in June, July, August or October, November, December of this year. Other dates for 2011. I am happy to help new travelers to Roatan. It's one of the last places where you can still backpack you way in. If that is your notion, I know where to stay. If your budget is a little more, I can help you do that, too. I don't know anything about the prices of the AI's or their services.

get it while the getting is still good
it may not be so much longer

I was going to dive with Reef Gliders and crash at their free-if-space-is-available-dorms... seems like a cheap enough solution...

What do you mean by this? Is there an Island wide, area, country wide, world wide, or other issue we should know about? Will next year be too late? If we don't do it now should we ignore Roatan completely in the future because it is too late?

My goodness, I better get my chicken suit ready as it is the only protection i have once the sky starts falling.

Hi,
I'm a bit confused. Are you looking for people to go on a trip with or looking to sell/provide some kind of service?
Just asking.
Thanks

Your respnse to my post left me with the same question. At first I thought you were A fun backpacker/cheapskate like me, then figured you were selling something. what's the story?

Deba and I have yacked a few times previosly....

I think SoloLady was just interested in getting together in Roatan for some cheap diving and a meet-up of some like minded folks. Her knowledge of the many available options of the West End could be useful if people's desires better suited one place over the other. She has a very broad based experience versus the advice from an occasional tourist that only knows one place or dive-op very well.

The West End is an ideal place for such a "happening". Several different characters of lodging and dive ops combine to make a 2/day dive schedule and the opportunity to intimately gather for leisurely group lunches or dinners that could move from place to place.

She and I seem to share at least one perception in common. Roatan is changing at an accelerated, exponential rate. The sooner you make your first trip, the more likely you are to return to this- one of the last bastions of dwindling reef health in the Caribbean. You will very soon be able to say, "I remember Roatan back when..."

What she's proposing is similar to herding cats. Nothing sinister or self serving in it, but when you are trying to organize the anarchy that is itself the typical of the West End visitor~ good luck on that one!

It would be fun to watch the videos!

I'd be interested. Waiting to hear more. Anyone know of any airfare available for less than $700 that doesn't include an overnight?
